Car Park - Height Restriction - Sensor System

Car Park height restriction sensing systems typically include the following components:

  1. Height Sensing Device: This is a device installed at the entrance or exit of a parking lot to detect the height of a vehicle. It can be a top-mounted sensor or a ground-mounted device. The sensor measures the height of a vehicle as it enters or leaves a parking lot.

  2. Warning System: When the height of the vehicle exceeds the limit set by the parking lot, the warning system will sound an alarm or display a warning light. This alerts the driver to stop or find another suitable parking lot.

This sensor system ensures that over-height vehicles do not enter the parking lot, which may cause danger or damage to the structure of the parking lot. At the same time, it also prevents drivers from entering parking spaces that cannot accommodate their vehicles, thus reducing congestion and confusion in the parking lot.

It is important to note that height restrictions may vary from one parking lot to another, and specific restrictions should be determined based on the design and needs of the parking lot.

1. Height Sensing Device

Height sensing devices typically use high intensity infrared sensors to measure the height of a vehicle. An infrared sensor is a device that uses an infrared light beam to detect an object. When a vehicle passes through the sensor, the infrared beam is blocked or reflected by the vehicle, and the sensor can determine the height of the vehicle by detecting changes in the beam.

Infrared sensors are fast, accurate and reliable, making them one of the most commonly used height sensing devices. Its use improves the safety and efficiency of parking lots and ensures that vehicles comply with height restrictions when entering and exiting the lot.

mirror-reflective

Transmitter and receiver on the same side of the same sensor, through the reflector back to the receiving end. The signal is triggered by blocking the light path.

diffuse-reflective

Light emitting and receiving are one and the same. It detects the light reflected from the object itself and triggers a signal. However, it is easily affected by the target (color, external bright light).

2. Alert System

The sensing device triggers a warning system when the height of the vehicle exceeds the limit set by the parking lot. This may include the following elements:

  1. Siren: A siren can emit a high-volume sound that is used to get the driver's attention. It can be a buzzer, horn or other sound emitting device.

  2. Warning Light: A warning light is usually a bright and conspicuous light fixture used to visually alert the driver. It can be a strobe, LED strip light, or other lighting device.
